Voices from distant lands
Poetry in the Commonwealth. Edited by Konrad Gross and Wolfgang Klooss. Collection of poems and essays read at the "5th Symposium on Commonwealth Literature in West Germany" (Dersau 1982). The heterogeneity of the various Commonwealth regions, reflected in the diversity of Commonwealth poetry, is shown in the broad scope of the essays which focus on subjects such as English-Canadian poetry, oral traditions in protest poems by black South Africans and New Zealand's Maori poetry. Further contributions deal with the poetical development in East Africa, Australia and India. In addition to scholarly comments and critical analyses the volume introduces major poets from "distant lands" and their work. 171 Seiten, broschiert (Königshausen & Neumann 1983)
